And as any first responder knows, a sense of calm is key to making the right decisions in a manner that enables the best outcome. So, What Does the Ideal First Aid Kit Contain? Adhesive strip dressings – bandaids. Stock the type that your family member is not allergic to. Non-adhesive dressings – best for burnt or grazed skin. Never use adhesive dressings on burnt or abraded skin. Wound dressings – these thick pads are used to help control bleeding and reduce the risk of infection. Different sizes are needed for different-sized wounds.
