Why Mediband for NDIS participants
- NDIS-registered provider. Registration number 4050021192. Registered under Assistive Technology and Personal Mobility Equipment categories.
- Two product lines, both NDIS-eligible. Pre-printed silicone bands ship same or next business day from Australian stock. Custom-engraved bands are made to order for participants who need their name, emergency contact, medications, and condition flags on the band.
- All ages. Infant through XL adult sizing. Child-friendly silicone colours through professional stainless steel and gold for adults.
- Carer and clinician confidence. Families, support workers, schools, hospitals, and peak bodies across Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom use Mediband to keep participants safer in the moments where every second matters.
What NDIS plans typically fund
For NDIS participants, a medical ID can be a fundable item under Assistive Technology or Consumables, depending on how your plan and goals are structured. The most commonly funded Mediband items are:
Pre-printed silicone bands
Entry-level price point, same-day despatch, multiple sizes and colours. Most common first-purchase under an NDIS plan.
Custom-engraved bands
Personalised text including name, emergency contact, condition, and medications. Available in silicone, stainless steel, and gold.
Emergency wallet cards
Carry the full medication list, specialist contacts, and pump or device details that don't fit on a band. Pair with any wristband.
Eligibility ultimately depends on your individual plan and how your goals are structured. Speak to your support coordinator or LAC before assuming coverage on a specific item.
How NDIS funding works with Mediband
Mediband supports all three NDIS plan management types. Pick the path that matches how your plan is set up:
If your plan is NDIA-managed
Email us your participant number and we'll invoice the NDIA directly through the participant portal. No out-of-pocket payment from you.
If your plan is plan-manager managed
Forward our invoice to your plan manager (we'll send it to you or directly to them — your call). Your plan manager processes it through your funding and you receive the product the same way you would from any registered provider.
If your plan is self-managed
Order direct from the website, pay at checkout, and submit the Mediband invoice to your NDIS portal for reimbursement. We'll provide an NDIS-compliant tax invoice on request.
How to access Mediband through NDIS
- Add Mediband to your plan under Assistive Technology or Personal Mobility Equipment, or as a Consumable depending on your goals.
- Work with your support coordinator, LAC, or plan manager to confirm funding allocation for the item.
- Browse the website and either order online (self-managed) or email [email protected] with your requirements (plan-managed or NDIA-managed). Quote within one business day, invoice direct to NDIA or your plan manager.
- Receive your medical ID. Most pre-printed silicone bands ship same business day from Australian stock; custom-engraved orders typically ship within 3-5 business days.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mediband an NDIS-registered provider?
Yes. Mediband is an NDIS-registered provider, registration number 4050021192. We are registered under the Assistive Technology and Personal Mobility Equipment categories, and we invoice the NDIA directly or work with your plan manager.
Which NDIS plan management types does Mediband support?
All three. NDIA-managed plans can be invoiced direct through the participant portal. Plan-managed plans use your plan manager to process the Mediband invoice. Self-managed participants order online, pay at checkout, and claim back through the NDIS portal — we provide an NDIS-compliant tax invoice on request.
Can a support coordinator order on behalf of multiple participants?
Yes. Support coordinators can email a single bulk order with participant details and we'll generate individual NDIS-compliant invoices per participant. Call 1300 796 401 during business hours AEST to arrange.
Which NDIS category does a medical ID fall under?
Medical IDs are usually claimed under Assistive Technology or Consumables, depending on how your plan is structured. For some participants Personal Mobility Equipment also applies. The exact category for your plan depends on your goals and how your support coordinator has worded them. Speak to your coordinator or LAC before assuming coverage on a specific item.
How long do Mediband orders take to ship under the NDIS?
Pre-printed silicone bands typically ship same business day from Australian stock when ordered before midday AEST. Custom-engraved bands are made to order in Australia — usually 3-5 business days to ship. NDIS orders processed through plan managers may take longer depending on plan-manager approval timing.
Can I get a quote before placing an NDIS order?
Yes. Email [email protected] with the participant's name, NDIS number, and the products you need. We'll send a quote within one business day, NDIS-compliant for submission to the NDIA or your plan manager.
