2013 Happy New YearWhy not start the new year off with some healthy living tips that will set you up for success throughout the year?

1. Wear a pedometer.  How on earth is that healthy? We humans are naturally competitive and if you get into the habit of checking how far you walk each day, you'll naturally want to beat yourself... and the more walking you do, the healthier you'll be. Download an app for your smartphone or buy a proper pedometer, and then walk whenever you can - top the shops instead of using the car, to the train station and use the stairs instead of the elevator at work.

2. Buy a set of medium weight dumbbells. And lift weights twice a day for three repetitions each.  Research a set of three-five muscle-specific exercises that will do your arms, midriff and shoulders and start with just 10 minutes a day. Keep it up for two months and you will be amazed at the difference in your strength and body tone.

3. Save money on all those vitamins. The marketing push to take vitamins is huge... but the research indicating any benefit is scarce. Look towards your diet and spend the (exorbitant) money instead on fresher, tastier foods that are fun to cook and tasty to eat. A well-balanced diet that takes account of your specific nutritional needs will deliver all the vitamins and minerals you need.

Does a child in your family have a medical issue?  Mediband is discreet, attractive, fun for kids to wear and can protect them in a variety of situations.
