Medical alert bracelets with no subscription — buy once, own it for life
Quick answer
A Mediband medical alert bracelet is a one-off purchase — no compulsory subscription, membership or monthly fee to keep it working. Your details are engraved on the band, so it works with no app, battery or account. If you also want a digital medical-history service, Mediband Group offers MedibandPlus as an optional low-cost membership — but it is entirely optional, and your band works fully without it.
Some medical ID services only work while you keep paying a subscription or annual membership. A Mediband band works differently: you buy it once, the information is engraved on it, and it keeps doing its job whether or not you ever pay again. A membership is available if you want digital extras — but it is never required. This page explains the difference so you can choose what suits you.

Is there a medical alert bracelet with no subscription?
Yes. A Mediband medical alert bracelet is a one-off purchase — you own it and pay no required fee to keep it working, because the wearer's details are engraved on the band rather than stored behind a paywall. If you would also like a digital medical-history service, Mediband Group offers MedibandPlus as an optional low-cost membership, but your band works fully without it.
One-off purchase vs subscription medical IDs
Both models can keep someone safer in an emergency. The difference is how you pay and what keeps the ID working over time.
| Mediband — one-off purchase | Subscription / membership service | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost to keep it working | None — you own the band. An optional MedibandPlus membership is available if you want the digital service | Recurring annual membership or monthly fee |
| How details are read | Engraved on the band — read instantly by anyone | May rely on a hotline, online profile or account you keep current |
| If you stop paying | Your band keeps working — it isn't tied to any membership | Service or profile access may lapse |
| Where your details live | On the band — nothing online to maintain (the digital history is optional via MedibandPlus) | Often held in a provider account |
| Customisation | Custom-engraved or ready-to-wear | Varies by provider |
| NDIS-registered | Yes (provider 4050021192) | Varies by provider |
| Delivery (Australia) | Lead time depends on quantity — typically 10–14 business days, larger runs longer, quicker turnarounds on application | Varies by provider |
The subscription column describes how membership-based medical ID services generally work; exact terms differ between providers, so check each provider's current terms before deciding.

How a Mediband medical ID works
You choose a band, tell us what to engrave, and it ships with the wearer's details on it. The information lives on the band, not behind a login, so it speaks for the wearer the moment a responder turns their wrist over — even with no phone signal and no power.
When the wearer's details change, you order a new band or a fresh wallet card. There is no compulsory membership to renew. If you want a fuller medical history stored digitally, MedibandPlus is there as an optional add-on — your choice, not a requirement.
Your band is yours the moment you buy it. A membership is available if you want one — but it is optional, never required.
What it costs over time
A one-off purchase is paid once. A subscription or membership recurs — each year the fee is charged again, so the total grows the longer it runs. With Mediband, the band itself never needs an ongoing payment. If you want the digital medical-history service, MedibandPlus is a low-cost optional membership you can add or skip — the band's emergency job is done either way.
Funding: NDIS, Seniors Card and out-of-pocket
Mediband is NDIS-registered (provider 4050021192), so eligible participants can have a medical ID funded through their plan. You can also pay out-of-pocket at the standard price.
Seniors Card holders receive 15% off* when paying out-of-pocket. *Terms

Frequently asked questions
Is there a medical alert bracelet with no subscription?
Yes. A Mediband medical alert bracelet is a one-off purchase — you buy it once and pay no required subscription or fee to keep it working. The details are engraved on the band, so it works with no account to maintain.
Do I have to pay an annual membership or monthly fee?
No. Your band is a one-off purchase with no required fee. Mediband Group does offer MedibandPlus — an optional low-cost membership for a digital medical-history service — but it is entirely optional, and your band works fully without it.
What happens to my medical ID if I don't take the membership?
Nothing changes — the band works on its own. The engraved information is read directly from the band, so it does not depend on MedibandPlus or any account. The membership only adds an optional digital medical-history service if you want it.
What is MedibandPlus?
MedibandPlus is an optional low-cost membership from Mediband Group that stores a fuller medical history for first responders to access. It is separate from your engraved band and completely optional — choose it only if you want the digital service.
Is a Mediband medical ID covered by NDIS?
Mediband is NDIS-registered (provider 4050021192), so eligible participants can have a medical ID funded through their plan. See the NDIS funding page for how to order.
*The 15% Seniors Card discount applies year-round to all products and stacks with the out-of-pocket pathway. It does not stack with NDIS-funded orders (where the NDIA pays the full price and the discount doesn't apply). For Support at Home wearers paying out-of-pocket because the band isn't covered by the AT-HM scheme, the Seniors Card discount applies normally. It does not stack with the pharmacy discount or the affiliate program discount.
