Asthma serves as one of the world's most common chronic conditions. It is also of the world’s most well known and most common respiratory conditions. It’s marked by constriction of the throat and a sudden inability to breathe.

Experts do not know what causes asthma. Many believe that it may have a combination of genetic, illness, allergy, and/or other origins. According to the Global Asthma Report, at least 335 million people around the world may suffer from asthma and its attacks. That is nearly the entire population of the United States.

Wearing a Mediband is vital if you have asthma. If you become unresponsive during an attack, others will be made aware that you have the condition. They can treat you in the right away and ask the right people for help.

Having an inhaler and using it properly represents the surest way to treat asthma. This is especially true when a sufferer has an attack.

What Is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic and lifelong disease. It affects the airways. During an attack, you can experience wheezing, coughing, and chest tightness as your airways tighten and close.

Those who have asthma may go without attacks or other symptoms for long periods of time. Attacks can also occur on a regular basis. Neither the origin nor the progression of the disease are well understood. It sometimes gets confused with diseases such as COPD.

Over time, the medical community is finding patients who suffer from both conditions with overlapping symptoms.

Millions Suffer From Asthma

Around 2.7 million Australians suffer from asthma. This accounts for 11 per cent of the population. Because the survey relied on self-reporting, the actual numbers are certainly higher. Among children, males have the disease at higher rates. After the age of 25, more females suffer from the disease.

Purchasing a mediband from us will tell everyone that you have asthma. You must also know how to use your inhaler correctly.

How to Properly Use an Asthma Inhaler

how to use an asthma inhaler

Knowing how to use an inhaler properly can save a life. If you, or someone close to you, have asthma, you should memorise the steps on how to use it. Practice using it so you are comfortable with it.

Remember that when you actually need the inhaler, you will be under stress. You must keep focus so that you use it right and get the best results.

  • Take the cap off. Make sure the inhaler is clear of dirt or debris
  • Shake the inhaler between 10 and 15 times
  • Put your inhaler mouthpiece at the end of the inhaler
  • Inhale deeply on your own, as well as you can, then exhale completely
  • Hold the inhaler and spacer between your index finger and your thumb
  • Place the mouthpiece of your inhaler into your mouth and over your tongue
  • Tighten your lips around the opening of the inhaler
  • Tilt your head back slightly so you are looking toward the ceiling
  • Push the top of the inhaler, releasing one dose of medicine
  • Slowly inhale and hold for five to ten seconds
  • Then open your mouth and exhale

Follow these directions carefully when getting used to learning your inhaler. Remember that it is wise for you to take a few practices with your device before an asthma attack. Accuracy counts.

Also, make sure to keep your inhaler clean. This is especially true of the opening. Dirt, debris, or other foreign materials can make an asthma attack worse if inhaled during treatment.
