Can I wear this medical alert necklace in the shower or swimming?
Yes. Stainless steel is fully water-resistant. The chain and pendant don't tarnish in chlorinated pool water, salt water, or shower water. Daily wear is safe.
How long does the engraving last?
Mediband's quality guarantee covers the engraving against manufacturing defects with fair daily use. The engraving is laser-cut into the steel rather than printed on top, so it doesn't fade. Heavy abrasive wear over time can reduce contrast at the surface, but the engraved depth remains readable. For wearers in heavy-wear contexts (trades, contact sport), consider a second pendant as a backup.
Will airport metal detectors trigger on the necklace?
Stainless steel necklaces are typically too small to set off airport scanners. Pacemaker wearers should always tell security officers about implanted devices regardless of whether the necklace triggers.
What size chain comes with the heart pendant?
The Mediband heart pendant ships with a 49cm (490mm) stainless steel chain — suits most adults. The chain is included free of charge.
Can I change the engraving if my condition changes?
The pendant can be re-engraved by returning it to Mediband (re-engraving fee applies). Many wearers buy a second pendant when conditions change rather than re-engrave the original.
Is the heart pendant suitable for kids?
The 49cm chain is sized for adults. For school-age children and younger, a silicone medical alert wristband is usually a better fit (and lower choking risk than a chain).
Does Mediband offer this with NDIS funding?
NDIS participants can claim Mediband products under "Consumables" or "Assistive Technology" categories depending on the wearer's plan — talk to your NDIS plan manager. Mediband is NDIS-registered. Medical alert jewellery isn't covered under Medicare.
