1. Stress may damage women more than men Mental stress may be more than a headache it seems. A recent study compared stats from men and women and found that women undergoing mental stress stand a greater risk of heart disease than men.  The study found that men's heart rates elevated during mental stress but women's didn't, indicating potential issues from the lack of blood flow. The details are here.

2. Dogs are good for you! Generally speaking, dog owners tend to be more relaxed and happier than non-dog owners several studies suggest. But further research indicates that the breed of dog you choose says even more! Those selecting cocker spaniels are more easy-going than most. The conclusion seems to be that we choose breeds most like us.

3. Berries. They're berry berry good.  New research shows that women who add berries (raspberries, blackberries, strawberries etc) to their diet can improve their brain function as they age. The study, says this article, is significant because it tracked over 160,000 women in the Nurses Health Study. The good news? Even adding berries once a week is a great assist.

4. Why the cinnamon challenge is stupid. Youtube is alive with the cinnamon challenge at the moment. The challenge is to eat a teaspoon of cinnamon in under a minute. But it's a dumb idea. Cinnamon acts as a fluid absorber very quickly, drying the mouth and throat and producing a choking sensation. Even clogging the salivary glands Unless there's water close by, kids stand a chance of panicking and breathing in the cinnamon or choking. Keep your cinnamon supplies up high for the moment until the craze goes away!

5. Want to boost the little one's development?  We think our Multibandz Times Table bands are a really neat idea. Each band has a times table on it and your child can simply pull one on each day and use it to remind them of a particular times table throughout the day, graduating to the next band when they've mastered the first. It's cool, it works and it's a fun way to get children engaging with learning. Find out more here.
